Biography

Clyde A. Wray is first and foremost a poet. This is attested to by his very recent win of the CBC’S poetry face off which Clyde will represent New Brunswick. His three books of poetry he’s already had published and more to be published by Trinity Publishing of Saint John NB.

Yet, he is also as versatile and prolific as a: playwright, director, performer and producer. He wrote and performed “Don’t Come If You Can’t Be Uncomfortable” which provoked one reviewer Mark Muller—O’Banks of the Washington Review to exclaim “ Do go to Don’t Come” and he proceeded to give it four stars. Some of his other accomplishments: (wrote, performed and directed) The Aftermath, (wrote, performed and directed), Cause Everybody Ain’t A Hero, (wrote, directed) The Couch, (wrote, produced, performed and directed), Conversations With God, (wrote, produced, performed and directed) Excuse Me Lord But I Didn’t Hear You, Clyde directed Patches by Canadian playwright Robert More here at the Saint John Arts Center. He wrote, produced, performed and directed The Diary Within My Head for the Saint John Arts Center, which prompted Michelle Porter of the Telegraph Journal to write “Without preaching or polemics, the man behind the extraordinary one man show should be seen.”

Clyde’s project the adaptation of Aristophanes’ play Lysistrata, which he wrote, didn’t come with out much trepidation and “howling” he says. There is more of course, but more isn’t necessary to get the point across.

Clyde A. Wray is originally from the projects of New York City a former stock boy, file clerk typist, Yellow taxi cab driver, commercial fishermen, New York State Narcotic Addiction Control Officer. He spent six years in the service and two years in Vietnam with the 101 Airborne Division and the 199th Light Infantry Brig.. He also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, United States Border Patrol Officer etc. He attended Texas Southmost College, Texas Marist in College in New York, American University in Washington D.C. graduated the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Glencoy Georgia, and now makes his home in Saint John, New Brunswick. He is a well seasoned traveler and has performed in such places as Denmark, Sweden and Germany He moved to the Maritimes from Los Angeles to Halifax N.S. where he resided for four years with Kelli his life partner. They have two daughters Astrid Emmerald and Shasta Mia.
